Submission Guidelines

We are accepting;

Lengths: Novel, from 60,000 to 105,000 words. (If it’s close, send it.)

Genres: Mystery/Crime, Horror and Romance (including cross-genre with these elements).

Genres: Science Fiction and Western.

Dates TBA as soon as possible.

Payment

We pay 70% royalties net, no advances. We do not charge our authors any fees, ever.

How to submit

Send Us: We want your finished, well edited manuscript. Let your words speak for you. Remember, we do not edit your work. We trust our writers to be professional.

Preferred: Use our Submission Form to upload your manuscript.

Acceptable: email your manuscript to submissions@barbarianbooks.com as either an attachment or copied into the body of the email.

If you email your manuscript please also include the following information, either in the body of the email or as a separate document attached to the same email;

  • Name

  • email address

  • Title

  • Genre

  • Word count

  • Phone number

  • Pen Name (if any)

Include: Send us only the finished manuscript. We do not require a cover letter, synopsis or marketing plan.

Format: Send your manuscript in whatever electronic file format you use (anything except print). Barbarian Books believes in working with talented creative people. We do not also expect you to be technically savvy. That is our job.

  • Series OK.

  • We accept simultaneous submissions.

  • We accept multiple submissions. Please submit each manuscript separately.

  • Cross genre acceptable, for example science fiction mystery, as long as the novel contains mystery/crime elements. If you’re not sure, submit. Note: We do not publish Erotica or Children’s Literature.

  • Original works only. Currently, we are not taking reprints. The submission cannot have been published ANYWHERE else (with the exception of chapters on critique sites). This includes blogs, print, etc.

  

All submissions acknowledged. If you do not receive an acknowledgement within fourteen days please email us at support@barbarianbooks.com . A decision to accept or reject a manuscript will be made within ninety days of submission.
